The William & Mary Alumni Association is a private, non-profit
organization established in 1842 as the “College of William & Mary
Society of the Alumni,” the sixth oldest alumni group in the U.S.
Its primary purposes have been to “aid, strengthen, and expand in every
proper and useful way the College of William and Mary in Virginia and
its work, and to develop, strengthen, and utilize the bonds of
interest, sympathy, and affection existing between the College and its
alumni/ae, and among the alumni themselves.” Our goal is to
provide services and programs, which foster a sense of community among
alumni, friends, scholars, staff, and students of the College for the
mutual benefit and welfare of both that community and the College
itself. We accomplish this goal through financial support of
educational scholarships, recreational programs for alumni, students,
faculty, and staff, and by maintaining communications with and between
all members of our database of over 75,000 mailable alumni through our
alumni publication, the William & Mary Alumni Magazine, and our
E-Connection electronic newsletter. We coordinate and support
over 40 alumni chapters and clubs, throughout the U.S. and
abroad. The William & Mary Alumni Association sponsors over
175 programs per year, and keeps the fond memories of William &
Mary alive in the hearts and minds of our distinguished alumni.
Major programs include: a welcome for incoming freshmen, hosting
reunions for alumni at 5-year intervals from graduation, Charter Day
celebrations, an annual auction to benefit our scholarship endowment,
50th reunion, Commencement celebrations, and Homecoming.
The College of William &
Mary in Virginia is the second-oldest college in the U.S. (chartered in
1693) and is also the best small public university in the nation.
It is home to the first honor code of conduct for students, Phi Beta
Kappa, the premier academic honor society in America, and such
distinguished alumni as Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson,
James Monroe, and John Tyler. William & Mary is a public,
co-educational institution with an enrollment of approximately 5500
undergraduate students and 2000 graduate students, and a full-time
faculty of 569 in arts and sciences, marine science, education,
business administration, and law, 93 percent of the faculty teaching
undergraduate courses having attained terminal degrees.
The William & Mary Alumni
Association seeks to continue to encourage friends and alumni to enjoy
themselves at the Alumni Center, the College, and in the greater
Williamsburg area. We are looking for a limited number of
business partners to help support our programs, and to provide
value-added offers to alumni, the current student body, faculty, staff,
and their families. We ask your company to consider sponsoring
the Alumni Association as a natural way for both organizations to
foster the community we both serve.

Marketing Ideas:
In order to
launch this partnership, a retail establishment could offer a coupon
code offering William & Mary students and alumni free shipping and
a percentage of their purchase going back to the Alumni
Association. The Alumni Association will promote this to alumni,
students, parents and staff.
At commencement, Your Company
can offer a William & Mary graduating class a special gift. It
could be a gift to graduating seniors that they pick up from your
business location. It can be promoted in the Alumni Magazine, through
e-connections and in the mailer to the graduates.
A frequent buyer reward card
can be developed for William & Mary alumni, students and
parents. These cards can be distributed by the Alumni Association
or as a tear-out card in the Alumni Magazine. An online promotion code
can be used for Internet buyers.
Your Company can be recognized
as a Preferred Vendor for wedding and event planners that use the
