over 500 events, an increase of 23% from the first year of operation. In this third year of operation it is
anticipated that the number of events and attendees will continue to grow.

Boardwalk Weekend September TBD, 2009
In 2008, the annual Neptune Festival of Virginia Beach, VA, celebrates its 35th year. When it was first conceived, its founders wanted the festival to be a community celebration of Virginia Beach's unique heritage. Today the Neptune Festival has evolved into one of the country's top 100 festivals and Top 10 on the East Coast. It has become a major visitor draw, bringing thousands of local visitors to the beach boardwalk and filling oceanfront hotels.

The College of William & Mary in Virginia is the second-oldest college in the U.S. (chartered in 1693) and is also the best small public university in the nation. It is home to the first honor code of conduct for students, Phi Beta Kappa, the premier academic honor society in America, and such distinguished alumni as Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, and John Tyler. William & Mary is a public, co-educational institution with an enrollment of approximately 5500 undergraduate students and 2000 graduate students, and a full-time faculty of 569 in arts and sciences, marine science, education, business administration, and law, 93 percent of the faculty teaching undergraduate courses having attained terminal degrees.
